I've tried branded ones and they last about the same as non-branded ones anyways.

I am sorry to say that I fell for these cheap batteries. Both are no use in two days. I went to local store and purchased name brand so that my kid will be happy. Packaging says "Use it by 2011", however, one worked for two days in child's toy and other didn't work at all.
